Man, did anyone else think we'd ever see a 14 seed in the Final Four? Insane!

Anyone foresee a 14 seed making it to the top 2? I sure do, cause R2 has got Jafar trounced.

I don't know. I would tend to think that this is an easy match for Jafar, being a sorceror. Though I guess R2 did defeat Voldemort.

But then again, I voted for Voldemort.

But I am entertaining opposing viewpoints.

Not really sure how R2-D2 makes it past Jafar here, but I'm open to listening to ideas. Right now, I'm leaning toward Jafar turning R2 into a cute little action figure.

Well, what were the reasons you voted for R2D2 against Voldemort? The rules of magic are much more clearly define in Harry Potter, while they are very ambiguous in Aladdin. Then what are we left to assume about Jafar's capabilities? I think it is pretty reasonable, in the absence of clearly defined rules, to assume that there are similar rules for sorcerers in Aladdin as there are in Harry Potter. That is obviously not the only way to think of it, but it is reasonable. Also I bring up my point from the last round that "most powerful sorcerer in world" is not as impressive as it seems since we have no other Sorcerer in Aladdin's world to compare (yes, "most powerful in the world" only applies to the world of Aladdin).

I'm not sure that I buy the argument that because we don't see any other sorcerers in Aladdin that Jafar mustn't be very strong. Look at the stuff he can do at the end of the movie. There shouldn't be any debate that he's pretty potent. He can transfigure just about anything he wants, seems to have some form of psychokinesis, can conjure items out of nowhere, can turn into a snake, and breathe fire. And there's every reason to believe he could do anything else he wants. At one point, he refers to himself as "the most powerful being on Earth."

That said, I'm not ready to entirely count R2 out, either. That plucky little droid has all sorts of gadgets at his disposal.

It is true, obviously the end shows us some things he can do. And I wasn't saying that because we saw no other sorcerers that means he isn't strong. My point was simply to keep in mind that "the most powerful sorcerer in the world" may not be as impressive as it sounds.

But it may also be as impressive as it sounds, and I feel like it probably is. (Occam's Razor, right?)

One other key difference between Jafar and Voldemort that works to Jafar's advantage - Jafar specializes in the deliciously ironic death, whereas Voldemort simply punishes his enemies through fear and cruelty. Why is this an advantage? Because I imagine more voters would be comfortable with seeing R2-D2 turned into a bird-feeder rather than seeing him ripped limb from limb screaming in pain.

My case for Jafar?

A. He beat Voltron. If he beat a big robot, he should be able to beat a little one.

B. If Magneto beats Luke, this (Magneto v. R2) would be the crappiest final round ever.

Actually, I've got some things up my sleeve that I've been saving for a potential R2-D2 v. Magneto final matchup. But yeah, I'm still not particularly convinced that R2 has what it takes to defeat J-slice.

(please forgive me for calling him J-slice)

So long as he doesn't become J-skillet.

I'm pretty sure the powerful sorcerer in the world can figure out something against the R2. R2 has succumbed to several injuries and has been put of commission [Episode 4]. I think R2 has lucked out and J-Dawg is going to conjure up some sand.

Yes, I called him J-Dawg. Probably than calling the other guy R-Dawg.

"Your luck has run out, droid," bellowed a confident Jafar (3). "I've got just the thing in store for you." R2-D2 (14) whirred and chirped a bit, curious to see what was in store, but also confident that the nostalgia of a generation would save him.

It turned out that it didn't, as Jafar deftly transformed R2-D2 into C3PO, everyone's second-least favorite character from the Star Wars franchise. Legions of angry fans swarmed the field and tore the droid limb from limb as Jafar chuckled to himself, whistling "Prince Ali".

Final score: 5-3 (0-6)
